The LC Zine library was launched in Fall 2010
About
The LC Zine Library Collective manages and maintains the Zine library. The Zine Library Coordinator is a Co-Op Coordinator who organizes meetings, encourages collective decision making, and offers organizational knowledge to the rest of the collective.
We aim to collect and share valuable, unusual materials to teach the The LC Co-Op and intersecting communities about histories of resistance and DIY ethics. We believe in amplifying underrepresented voices through publishing, and we aim to create a space for everyone’s voice, especially for those that are categorically oppressed.
The types of zines we have collected include DIY how-to, Personal, Music, Feminism, Queer/gender liberation, Anti-Capitalism, zines made by LC students…and we’re still building!
We hope you’ll come browse and borrow something from our shelves in the Co-Op, including the Love Your Body Week Zine released in Fall 2010, a Students United for Real Food zine, a zine published by a student on racism and white privilege which will be featured at the multicultural symposium in Fall 2010, student comics, and a student zine on consent culture at LC.
How to use the library:
Come to the Co-Op and look at the materials for as long as you want within the space. If you put it back before you leave the Co-Op, please take care to put it back in the category where you found it. If you can’t figure it out, give it to the coffee shop volunteer.
If you’d like to borrow a zine to take home, ask the coffee shop volunteer for assistance. They will add your information and the zines you’re borrowing to our online lending database. You can check out up to 5 zines at once for up to two weeks.
If you’d like to donate zines, please drop them off in the Co-Op with a coffee shop volunteer or coordinator.

Come see the new issue of Slingshot in our library. Take a copy from our “Propaganda Box” next to the computers in the Co-Op. Keep it or bring it back when you’re done. There’s one copy in the library, as well as back issues that these awesome people sent us for free. Only place on campus to find this really sweet periodical.

Before the end-of-semester tidal wave, we’re going to bust one more issue out. So if you’ve got a story, especially about events and community at LC that inspire you; a poem; a drawing; a collage; a recipe; life tips; how-to’s; plans for revolution, we do too! Let’s publish and make them heard together. Come to our meetings Thursdays at 5pm in the co-op if you’ve got time, or contribute your ideas or submissions to lczines@gmail.com.
We can’t wait to hear from you
